Look to Cupcakes When Creating Bite-Size Goodness

Copywriting and…cupcakes? What do these two concepts have to do with one another? Actually, they are more closely associated than you may think. Unless you have been living under a rock (or you dislike sweets—and I do not understand, but I promise not to judge) the past few years, you have probably noticed that cupcakes are hugely popular. There are television shows like Cupcake Wars on FOOD Network dedicated to the art of cupcakes. Many cupcake-only bakeries have opened in cities both large and small. Cupcakes have become an accepted and fun substitute for a traditional wedding cake. Additionally, there has been a surge of interest in cupcake recipes, spurred by websites like Pinterest.

We know that cupcakes are popular, but why? Consider these reasons why the cupcake has become the “go to” sweet treat, and see how you can look at the cupcake as a great example for writing content for the web.

  • Cupcakes are Small – When you see a cupcake, you do not immediately think about hundreds of calories, guilt and the other negatives that you may consider when you are faced with a full cake or other treat. In the same way, small is often the way to go when writing for the web. Short paragraphs are “easier to digest” and draw readers in—without overwhelming readers like a huge novel or other document.
  • Cupcakes are Attractive – More so with cupcakes than other types of sweet treats, the aesthetic appeal is very important. When you create web content, find ways to make it more attractive. Include appropriate images, plenty of white space, and appealing fonts and layouts. A great looking piece of content is more likely to be read than a dull, boring piece.
  • Cupcakes Come in Hundreds of Flavors – One of the reasons that cupcakes have taken the world by storm is the creativity that bakers have put into making new flavors. Cupcakes go beyond chocolate and vanilla; it is not unusual to find exotic flavors that you would never expect—in fact one of the more popular flavors at a local “cupcakery” is flavored as bacon and waffles! Utilizing a bit of creativity in your copywriting services will go a long way in helping you stand out from the crowd.
